I'm currently 22w2d (22 weeks, 2 days) along in my pregnancy, but movement has still been very sporadic because I have an anterior placenta. If you don't want to click to read, essentially it means that my placenta is at the front of my abdomen, between baby and my belly, so it's hard to feel movement.
This morning, however, our little bug was making some big movements first thing when I woke up so that I could feel the movement quite well. I love these moments because it reminds me that this is all really real. Other times, when I can't feel the baby much and I'm feeling relatively "normal", the whole pregnancy seems kind of surreal.
Even at our anatomy scan (which we had to go to twice, by the way), little bug was moving around like crazy, but I couldn't feel the movement. It was so strange to see so much movement on the screen, but not feel it inside me (especially knowing that the baby was 12 oz. and nearly 10 inches long at that point).
In fact, because of all that movement, we didn't get very good pictures of our little bundle of joy (they're dark, grainy, and a bit blurry), but we're excited to have the photos regardless. My mother remarked that her ultrasound pictures of me (coming up on 35 years ago) were better quality. Oh well. Maybe we'll seek out one of the boutique ultrasound places and try for a 3D ultrasound once we move. For now, I'm happy with what we have.
I'm also so happy to feel the little nugget more and more each day. I can't wait for the day that Kevin is able to feel movement, too. That will be a special day for sure. For now, I get to share these moments with our baby, just the two of us, and it's a kind of special sweet bond that I cherish.
I look forward to seeing what the next phase of this journey brings.
xoxo,
Becki
